Indoor Rock Climbing
As part of my 2009 goal, I wanted to try indoor rock climbing. There is something about climbing up high on a wall that is very intriguing. Although I failed to attain this goal in 2009, I made sure I will do it in 2010 and on Sunday I did it!
I went with my friend Michelle and her boyfriend, Pat to the Toronto Climbing Academy and I signed up for a beginner course learning how to harness myself, tie the ropes and belay others. Safety is very important, of course. After learning the tricks, it was time to CLIMB! It was actually quite scary as you are climbing because you don’t realize your safely harnessed and you won’t fall all the way down… and it goes quite high up! It feels like any second you could slip and falling to your death. But I successful reach the top (too bad there wasn’t a bell to ring haha. but that would be annoying. Imagine bells ringing all the time!) and then i was like omg now I need to get down but that was definitely the fun part as you just can bounce down. Once I reached the ground again, I was excited and I felt so accomplished.
It was AWESOME. After you do the little walls you move onto hard rocks that have small and further apart ‘holds’ (those rocks that stick on that you put your hands and feet on). I can’t wait to do it agian and it was a great work out!

Karen! You’re an AWESOME CLIMBER! Next time you’re doing the 5.7 and 5.8 routes! You can totally do it! Hehe.. and when you “bounce” down, you are rapelling down. Can’t wait to do this with you again!
OMG! Congrats Karen!!! I haven’t done it in so long I practically forgot how to harness and belay people. I have to take the course again haha. Proud of you and your achievement 🙂
