[Trip] Las Vegas, NV

Day 8 – Tuesday July 7, 2010

We spent drove about 4 hours to Vegas from LA with a stopover at Barstow for some quick shopping. Good thing we did, I bought 3 pairs of shoes at Kenneth Cole for about $30 each. We checked into our Hotel, Luxor which is egyptian themed and then some of us headed to MGM to get our KA Cirque D’soleil tickets.

The show was great but I found this show focused more on the storyline than the actual acts. It didn’t ‘wow’ me as much as the other ones in terms of the acrobatic skills but the storyline, set and costumes were fantastic. The story was about a prince and princess whose parents were murder and their country was invaded. The sister fled the country by boat and then explored different countries to get back, while the brother hides and then plots revenge. Oh and there is a love story to it but you’ll have to watch it to learn the story!

KA!

After the show, we walked the strip and explored the new hotel/casino Aria and the new high-end mall.

Day 9 – Wednesday July 8, 2010

Started the day off playing in Luxor’s pool, it was pretty but it wasn’t deep enough, only 3 ft deep. Next, feeling hungry, we went to Rio casino to get this amazing 24 hour unlimited buffet pass to 7 different buffets; Paris, Rio, Planet Hollywood, Ceasar, Imperial Palace, Harrah’s & Flamingo. The buffet pass was only $34.99, if we signed up for a Total Rewards Player card, and so we did. New members were eligible for $10 Free Slot credits! The buffet was great, lots to eat from all over the world. After filling up, we played the slots machine. I played this very amusing Goldfish penny slot, where these bonus fishes would come to kiss my screen and stuff would turn Wild or a blowfish would come multiple my winnings. I somehow ended up in the bonus round where I got 8 free spins with 8 fishes and I won $81! I was so happy, I never won so much in my life before. Next, we ventured into the heat and boy, was it hot. It was like you were standing in a burning oven.

Venetian

After walking to explore the venetian (one of my favourite casinos), we decide to put our buffet pass to use and go to Ceasers for some snacks. This buffet was pretty small, there wasn’t even ice cream! But we had some fruit and drinks to recharge. Next, We walked to Bellagio, where there was a fun display that had gigantic flowers and bugs.

We watched the fountain show and headed to another buffet for dinner, Paris (my other favourite casino).

Paris

This buffet focused mainly on french cuisine but I really enjoyed the Creme Brulee, Flan and made to order crepe! Feeling stuffed, we walked around the Miracle Mile Shops. Pretty mall with reasonably priced shops that we have heard of like H&M, Urban Outfitters etc.

Day 10 – Thursday July 9, 2010

Originally, the plan was to head up to see the Grand Canyon but seeing how hot the weather was and everyone was tired, we decided to stay in Vegas instead. We started the day with another buffet since our pass was still valid – the planet hollywood buffet. It was great, lots of breakfast variety including made to order omelettes, crepes, waffles, smoothies yogurt and more.

Next, we went to the Las Vegas Preimuim outlets and I ended up with some shoes and a watch. Afterwards, I decided I wanted to try Lollicup… a popular bubble tea place. It was okay, nothing special but at that same plaza was Yogurtland and boy was that amazing! Its a self-serve yogurt place where you pick your flavours and then add your toppings. Then, they weight it and price it per oz. there were about 10 flavours and I tired Taro, Coconut, Pistachio and Lemon Passionfruit. My Favourite was Coconut! It might even beat Pinkberry in my opinion. That evening, we went to the Las Vegas Chinatown area and ate some chinese food. And after that we went to the M&M World store, Coca Cola Shop and a souvenir shop to buy last minute gifts.

Day 11 – Friday July 10, 2010

This was my departure day. Woke up, packed up and went to the airport. On the flight home, I got a great aerial view of the strip.
