Indoor Skydiving & Mechanical Bull Ride

For my birthday, Chris takes me to Niagara Falls for the weekend. He’s a noob at planning but did okay for a first timer –needs more practice though. Friday night, we skated by the falls followed by a casual dinner at Wendy’s –everything else closes at 10pm!

On Saturday, we went to enjoy lunch at Stone Road Grill. I had a pastrami benedict which was an interesting combination. They have a crazy bacon dessert called “The Barnyard” (Smoked Maple Bacon Ice Cream, Bacon Trough, Caramel Mousse, Cinnamon Sugar Crackling and Bacon Caramel Corn)… to wild and sweet for my taste buds. However, it is a great place to eat in Niagara.

We stopped by the next door bakery, Willow Cakes and Bakery to pick up snacks. They had these free mini macaron samples… It was so cute! Chris said the butter tart was the best he’s ever had. Bloated and full from lunch, we went to see the Niagara Falls IMAX movie and ended up playing a game of Dance Dance Revolution before going up the Skylon Tower.

Finally, the main attraction, Niagara Freefall centre where we were going to try indoor skydiving and ride the mechanical bull.

The bull ride was crazy! You basically ride until you fall off into the inflated cushion. It gets harder and harder as you stay on. Pretty fun but I was getting scared that I’d fall off and break another finger.

After two bull rides each, we suited up and watched the how to fly tutorial video.  Pretty straightforward. You go into the wind tunnel and fall face flat into the wind. You’ll be lifted but the instructor will hold you down so you don’t get too high. It was fun! We each tried for about 3-5 minutes. It felt pretty long in there though. No adrenaline or pain… Easy to fly but hard to actually controlling your movement and start doing tricks. This might be the closest I get to skydiving… no view but also no fear.

We ended the night with Clifton Hill, the skywheel (romantic ride <3) and dinner at AG Inspired Cuisine. Short but nice birthday getaway with Chris. Thanks babe!
