Electro Dash 5K
A bunch of friends and I decided on doing Electro Dash, a 5K run at Canada’s Wonderland through light displays at night. The 5K was more fun than competitive. They didn’t even time you, which is a good thing since you’ll be stopping often to take photos… well at least I was
The starting line was fun and exciting since they were blasting dance music and had a cool start line with large inflated lights and dancers. Everyone decked out in lights and glowsticks and was pumped to run.
Around the first corner, we were running through a small inflated light forest. Tons of people were stopping and taking photos including myself. Next, we were running down the main wonderland street looking at the water fountain. Electronic dance music was playing throughout the run. We ran through the Medieval fair and then around Planet Snoopy. Small displays including disco balls were here and there. We end up crossing the wonderland bridge looking at the Wonder Mountain and the waterfall.
There was another larger inflated forest which I stopped to take more photos. We were just jogging lightly and then walking. Near the end, we were running through a light tunnel which was really fun. Music was blasting and the display was fun.
Before we knew it, the run was done and a dance party was the finish line. It was definitely more of a beginner fun run than a race. Technically, it was only a 4K run according to my runkeeper iPhone app. Regardless, it was a lot of fun and I would do it again next year (but maybe more running than photo taking). No medal collected but they gave us a free wonderland ticket for the rest of the 2013 season.
