Toronto Bike Rave

I was skeptical at first but what’s not to like about biking to music with a bunch of people at night. The event was a lot of fun with an amazing turn out –about 500 people, who all decorated their bike with lights and glowsticks.  The event coordinators, Bike Pirates sent out a .mp3 for everyone to blast and listen to at the same time. Mine was not synced properly and Chris’ stopped after he received a phone call but we just followed a bike with big speakers.

It was pretty epic! The route was about 15km. We biked mostly smaller roads starting from Christie Pits to Dundas and Dupont to High Park to Lakeshore and finish at Trinity Bellwoods. The best part was the event coordinators would stop traffic at intersections so we wouldn’t need to stop. Cars would honk, people would cheer us on and we would ring our bike bells. There were some bottle neck points along the route but overall, it was a great leisure ride.

We also had three rest/dance stops in between. In my opinion, there should have only been one which was the best one,  at pitch-black High Park. The other two stops were too long and got boring… Sabrina bought some sparklers that we lit at High Park. Awesome idea!  I regret not bringing my GoPro… (Why didn’t I think of bringing it!) But Chris recorded a video of parts on his phone. Here is a glimpse;

It was a fun free toronto event! I would go again and go all out on for bike decorations next year.
