2014 Reflection & Goals for the New Year
2014 was a year of reflection for me. Aside from my usual adventures, I spent a lot of time reflected on my past, present and future this year.
2014 Goals
[ ] Build my Online Portfolio – Still working on this…
[X] Build muscle and get stronger – Slightly but slacking recently
[X] Try bobsledding & the skeleton – Amazing!
[X] Put together a desktop wallpaper album from my travels
[X] Work on sewing projects (bags, camping chair organizer etc.)
[ ] Participate in CityChase 6 hour version – They canceled the 2014 version
[X] Take some self-interest courses (eg. auto-mechanics, makeup 101, cake decorating) – Took kayak classes but the other schedules didn’t align
Memorable Moments
Tried Bobsledding and Skeleton
It was on my bucket list for a while and in 2014, Chris and I set out to try it. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and an amazing winter long weekend.
Snowboarding in Banff
Breathtaking experiencing riding down the big mountains out west in fresh powder.
My Best Friend’s Wedding
My best and oldest friend got married this year. I was one of the maid of honors and I was so happy to share her big day… The day we’ve talked about for so long.
Killbear Camping
One of my favourite camping trips to date! Beautiful site, great company and my solo morning bike ride in the forested trails was peaceful and surreal. A&B acoustic album is the perfect soundtrack.
Portugal/Morocco/Ireland
Like each big trip…amazing! Favourite memories included surfing, biking and kayaking in Lagos, Portugal and the camel trek in the Sahara Desert.
Laser Eye Surgery
The decision to get it done happened really quick as I had my scheduled eye check up and went for a LASIK consultation. Unique painless experience and I now have 20/20!
Christmas in LA
It was a heartwarming Christmas spend with my west coast relatives. I ate some tasty ramen and Thai noodles. I saw some new scenic sights like Griffin Park, White Sands National Monument and Carlsbad Caverns. I had a fun time in Universal studios bonding with my cousins (the transformer ride was mind-blowing!)
More great moments
- Armin Only Concert – So many feelings that night. His music is moving, pumping and powerful
- Songkran – Didn’t expect a adult water fight to be so much fun!
- Bit Bazaar with Sabrina – Such a unexpected fun day
- Super fun races: Colour Me Rad & Foam Run
- Escape room games – The first time we escape was the finest teamwork I’ve ever seen
- My DIY Fog light repair – So successful and my first time removing the bumper
- Cut my hair and donated it to Angel Hair for Kids
- Got a nose stud piercing… been wanting it since high school but my parents said they would disown me… well too bad I’m old enough now and what did they say when they say it “Oh I see, ok.”
2015 Goals
Keeping it super simple this year as I need start planning for the next few years… Time to “grow up”
[ ] Now that I have 20/20 vision, I want to learn how to be a stronger swimmer
[ ] Technology detox more often – get away from computers and phone.
[ ] Keep active and stay fit
2014 Life Lessons
After nearly 9 years, Chris and I mutually called it quits in April. Although it is sad, we’re still both good friends and very mature about it. We both sort of saw it coming although it was unexpected… I have no regrets and is ever so optimistic about what is to come. I am happy to have shared so many memories and this love story with Chris. I will always cherish the time we had and be thankful that I was once loved by him and in love with him.
Through it, I’ve been able to assess who I am and how I have grown. I was able to lean on some amazing friends who helped me recover. Oh, I learnt that I’m quite strong too.
