[Trip] Dublin, Ireland

Day 16 – Monday October 20, 2014

We wandered the exterior of the Dublin castle before joining a 3-hour walking tour.

Our tour guide, James was an excellent story teller and we got to learn about the popular sites including trinity college, St. Stephan Green, temple bar and the O’Connell bridge. He gave us some fun cultural facts and a overview of Ireland’s history.

We had lunch at Leo Burdock’s fish and chips which was recommended by Anthony Bourdain. It was good but I’ve had better. We revisited Trinity College and shopped at Grafton street in the afternoon. We stopped at Murphy’s homemade ice cream shop for a break. The sea salt ice cream was very creamy and enjoyable –not salty at all despite the name.

Temple bar was lively at night and we ate at Elephant and Castle. Their highly rated wings was a huge disappointment! It was so salty I had to send it back.

I enjoyed my day in Dublin. It was quite charming and reminded me of Boston. The live music everywhere was great. I will definitely revisit Ireland but next time, I want to see the countryside.

Day 17 – Tuesday October 21, 2014

We decide to get an Irish Breakfast before our mid-day flight. This breakfast was very satisfying and I got to try the black pudding (type of blood sausage).

Irish Brekkie

We took the aerobus to the airport and flew back to Toronto.

Like most, this trip was incredible. Portugal is underrated. I loved exploring Lisbon and kayaking and surfing in Lagos. Morocco was a cultural experience. The camel trek and camping in the Sahara desert was the highlight. Dublin, although a short visit was quaint and charming. Until the next trip…
