2015 Reflection & New Goals

This was a year of change. Aside from my usual getaways and trying new things, I chased my a big dream to move out west. It was my biggest adventure yet!

2015 Goals

[x] Now that I have 20/20 vision, I want to learn how to be a stronger swimmer
Took a weekly lesson with my good friend/lifeguard Chauncey. Improved a lot but still don’t know how to thread water.

[ ] Technology detox more often – get away from computers and phone.
I think quite the opposite. I’m in front of screens more…

[ ] Keep active and stay fit
Getting very lazy…

[x] Move out west
I didn’t announce it last year but it was my biggest goal planned. It took a lot of work but I did it and I’m living in Seattle.

2015 Highlights

Huntsville & St. Louis Moonstone

It was very charming to skate in a forest under the stars on a trail lit by tiki lamps. Chi and I also caught some fresh powder at Moonstone which added to a perfect winter getaway.

New York City

I’ve been to NYC a few times but this time was for a wedding. It was fun to reunite with my closest university friends. There wasn’t much sightseeing in the brutal cold but lots of delicious eats.

Tremblant

It was cold but a great getaway for the family long weekend with a bunch of friends. I got to finally skate the Ottawa Canal before heading up to Tremblant. Our winter cottage was fantastic and those hot tub nights were memorable… Snow angels challenge!

Killington, Vermont

This was a spontaneous snowboarding trip with new friends. I got to snowboard above the clouds and also challenge myself on a baby terrain park.

Singapore

This was the first time I traveled alone and it was a new experience. Singapore is a great urban city with some diverse ethnic food.

Marina Bay Sands

Letchworth & Watkins Glen

This was the second time I’ve visit but first to camp here. There were some fantastic hikes and views that I got to show Chi. He loved it.

Electric Daisy Carnival, Las Vegas

I returned to the electric grounds and it was just as fun as the first time with new friends.

Algonquin & Killarney Parks

A summer isn’t complete without camping! There were two main parks I wanted to visit before I moved and I got to see both. Algonquin’s secret waterfall was fun and adventurous. Killarney had an challenging but rewarding hike to the Crack.

Beautiful Killarney

Cayo Coco, Cuba

It was the perfect relaxing plan-free getaway before moving. I just wanted to crash on a beach and do nothing. But I did do a bunch of activities including an unforgettable experience snorkelling with abundant of coral fish.

The job hunt & move to Seattle, Washington

The job hunt was a emotional roller coaster but mostly positive. I accepted the UX designer role at Amazon in Seattle and it’s been an adventure since. I love Seattle and it quickly became my new home. Furnishing and decorating my place has brought me such unexpected joy.

2016 Goals

[ ] Explore West Coast
[ ] Camp out West
[ ] More crafting and home decor
[ ] Improve my cooking skills

Sometimes it’s unbelievable how much is achievable in a year… And how much change can happen. In 2015, I got a new job, moved to a new city, found a new home, made new friends and entered a new relationship. But I won’t forget where I came from and my family and friends back in home. Here’s to 2016 –more adventures and positive change.
