Seattle Questival
We missed our chance to attend a city scavenger hunt/race last summer due to busy schedules but we planned for it well in advance this year. Emily, Claire and I signed up for Questival as the Pacific NorthQuesters!
This 24-hour adventure race kicked off on Friday at 7:00pm and ends Saturday 7:00pm. You can put as much or little effort as you want to complete each quest. We weren’t so devoted to missing out on any beauty sleep but it definitely pushed us to explore Seattle, complete embarrassing quests and step outside out comfort zone. All the quests are documented with photos or videos and tracked in their app.

We checked in at Magnuson Park and got our free Cotopaxi backpack. There were check-in challenges to start such as take a team photo, meet another team, get free swag from the sponsors, selfie with the mascot etc. We finished all of them except “eat from the food truck” because we already had a poke picnic.

At 7:30, we were off and headed back to Amazon to reenact a performance review in a boardroom, give a hug to a “stranger” and demonstrate a skateboard trick.
We rushed to catch the sunset at Golden Gardens and knocked off a couple of quests there.

We left the house around 7:30am and headed to Mighty-O to share a donut without using our hands. It was hilarious. We also left a note of our favourite ten things about Washington.
We went to Jo-ann to make bandannas and then went to a Zumba class in Central district dressed in 80s aerobic gear. We took photos in front of street art and crossed an intersection as if we were on the moon.
We made a Goodwill donation, did a touchdown celebratory dance in front of the Century Link field and had lunch at a Turkish restaurant. We took photos in front of the SAM and square danced in front of Pike Place Market. I also get extra closed to the Gum wall and Emily and Claire gave away flowers. Emily also ate cauliflower like an apple there but no one gave her an odd stare.
We picked up the dogs and hiked to Coal Creek Falls. During the 2.5mile hike, we checked off a couple of wilderness quests like cooling off in a waterfall and made video on how to explain treat a snake bite.
We went to Lake Union Park to walk through the fountains with an umbrella and jumped into a natural body of water. We finished up riding the South Lake Union Streetcar and ended the day with burgers and beers at Local eatery.
We finished in 196th place out of 513 teams and completed 74 of 269 quests. One of my favourite challenges was shooting our 90s sitcom opening video. One of the most anxious quests was being holding my breath submerged in Lake Union. It was one of the busiest 24 hours of my life but also one filled with so much laughing and outrageous moments.
