2021 Reflections & 2022 Goals

Another year flew by and it was another year in dealing with the global pandemic. It sucks and I cannot wait to see this behind us— I miss seeing my friends and family, I miss traveling internationally, I miss going out worry- and guilt-free, and even working in the office. I usually try to look at the silver lining but it’s harder this year, even with the vaccine. I have to push myself through it, and trust that we’re not alone in dealing with it.

This year went by too quickly and it was wild, busy, and filled with a mix of emotions. I’ve never felt more ups and down this year than any other year. We were fortunate to take two fantastic week-long trips, buy two investment cabins and see our family since 2019. But it has also been a year of stress and struggles dealing with the pandemic, health challenges and other concerns.

[X] New growth + learning something new… – TWO cabin madness.

2021 Moments

Mt. Bachelor & Bend, Oregon

We drove down to Mt. Bachelor to cross another mountain off our snowboarding list. While we could have had more snow, it was still nice to take in the views.

Kauai, Hawaii

After a year of local travel, it was freeing to visit Kauai. We were just vaccinated, covid cases were low and it was a great change of scenery.

More PNW Adventures

We continued local travel this year by visiting Mount Adams, San Juans Island, Deception Pass, and other little local unique stays.

Buying a cabin

This was a huge milestone of 2021 and perhaps my entire life. It was one of the biggest learning curves I’ve faced and risk I’ve taken. I’m outside my comfort zone, which is both terrifying and exciting. I still wonder why I did it but I think this is how I kept myself motivated and mentally cope with the pandemic.

Glacier National Park

We took a 1-week road trip to Glacier National Park to celebrate our cabin achievement. This park was stunning and jaw-dropping.

Buying a second cabin

Never in a million years, would I have imagined buying two cabins in one year… but it happened. Maybe it was impulsive, but we dove into our second vacation home rental.

Visiting Toronto

This was the most stressful trip I’ve ever had to Toronto. It was a struggle as we made plans to see friends and family with rising Covid-19 cases. It was great to see family but it also came with guilt, worry and anxiety. While we didn’t get to see everyone we care about, it was precious to spend time with those we could gather with.

2022 Goals

While Covid is still ever present, I hope to make up for lost time with friends and family as safe as possible. I plan to focus on self-care, being a good wife, sister, daughter and friend and also keep growing my new rental business.

[ ] Self-care
[ ] Spend more time with family
[ ] Travel if safe, maybe Hawaii, Alaska, Toronto?
[ ] Grow & improve our two cabin rentals
