Veld Music Festival

What a crazy weekend at Veld music festival! It was the first event this year and I must say everything went pretty smoothly and the event planners did great job!
Day 1 – Saturday
We arrived around 3:30pm and parking and security was well organized and easy. We went to the main stage right away and caught the end of Chris Lake’s set. Sundown was great and I was singing along!

It was insanely hot that day, feeling like 40 degrees! We hid under the shade from the sound booth. Steve Aoki and Knife party played next but they weren’t really my style…

I was looking forward to hearing Steve Angello from Swedish House Mafia play the most today. We moved closer and closer to the stage as it was time for his set.

He opened with one of my favorite tracks, “Greyhound” and just as the song progressed, rain started drizzling to provide us with heat relief. It was amazing! The crowd was dancing like crazy… Including myself! His set was the best that day for me. He killeddddd it!

Below is a clip of the last swedish house mafia song before they disbanded, “Don’t you worry Child”.

Deadmau5 was next and though I like deadmau5, it’s not as strong and fist pumping. He’s more artistic and chill. We were up close for the first 5 minutes until the crowds came from the other stages as he was the headliner and last act that night.

A mosh pit started to form and holy shit, it got so cramped and tight. There was no room to dance or even fist pump! We decide to move back but it was even more insane to get out of there! I thought I was not make it out alive but alas, we made it and then got to watch from a little hill. We ended the night with some dancing from afar and went to bed.

Day 2 – Sunday
This day was going to be more epic because there were more artists I was looking forward to see; Avicii, Aly and Fila, Cosmic Gate and Gareth Emery.

Bright Colors reversed today!

We got there around 3:00pm and caught half of Ben Gold’s set and holy moly! It was already so good! He played some of my favorite tracks including Sun and Moon!

In the middle, he played Flaming June by BT which made Chris go crazy. He was like “OMG!” where’s Chauncey? (Because they both love that song) and he couldn’t find him. Then Chauncey taps him and was like “I was getting water and heard this and had to run back!” lmao heheh love these boys.

Cosmic Gate was next and they were so good! In the middle, they played ‘Be Your Sound’ with Emma Hewitt’s vocals. It was amazing! I love this song! The crowd was all singing along and I was getting goosebumps and watery eyes!

Gareth Emery was next. It was so good, I didn’t want to leave but my feet were started to hurt and I wanted to sit down for a bit. Chris and I went to get some food, water and quick rest. By the time, we got back it was 30 mins before his set was done so we stayed in the back dancing with lots of space. He played ‘Concrete Angel’ at the end and it was so beautiful and spine tingling.

Avicii was the last act. I was nervous to go close and be stuck in a mosh pit so we stayed in the middle. I sorta wish I went closer but the music was blasting. It was a really strong set but I don’t think I enjoyed it as much as I could because I was getting so tired. I still danced my heart out when I heard Greyhound and Atom.

Avicii’s last song was levels and by then Chris, my sister and Kevin and I found Lewis and Sabrina. We all sang and danced along together. We left after that, only to hear Avicii’s encore; a classic tune by zombie nation so we were dancing to our car.

What an amazing time! I never thought I would have so much fun at a music festival as I don’t like ignorant (sweaty) people, drugs or crazy crowds. But for me it was about the music, lights and dancing. This definitely my type of party! I’m so excited for Electric Zoo in New York now!
