Dog Sled Racing

As part of my new year goals, I wanted to try dog sledding. However, since Chris and I are going to try snowmobiling instead this winter, we weren’t going to due to the price; Dogsledding half day tours are about $100+ per person! Luckily, I saw that the kotright conservation centre was having a Dog Sled racing event with $3.00 dog sled rides! So we decided to go and check it out.

We got there at 1:15 and there were dogs everywhere preparing for the races. They were adorable and making so much noise. We pet them but I was shy and a little scared they would bite me.

At 1:30, the dog races began! I had hope all the dogs would race at the same time but they raced one at a time. It was still neat to see!

Go go go!

After the races, the line shorten for the dog sled rides so we went on it. It was like a 2 min ride but it was a good sampler for when we do the real thing (maybe next winter). Next time, we’ll be the one holding on and standing not sitting so comfy like we were.

We noticed a hot chocolate and roasted marshmallow station so we tried it out. I made fun of chris for burning his marshmallow but then I failed horribly too since it was my first time.

We decide to go for a short hike on a trail and it was gorgeous! They even had Muskoka chairs (one in PINK). It was really quiet and the sun beamed it’s rays on us.

We saw a lookout point where we listen to the sounds from the river. I enjoyed it… I’m starting to turn into a nature junkie! Great place to hike and it was really peaceful. Excellent winter weather that day too!
